It's a wrap on CampOUT! in the Cariboo
The first-ever LGBTQIAA2S+ CampOUT! event in the Cariboo took place from March 15-17, 2019. We welcomed 20 campers between ages 12 and 17 from Prince George, Quesnel, and WIlliams Lake for three days of community, education, and adventure!
We would like to thank our sponsors for making this event happen -- events like this aren't possible without community support and generosity. The following businesses and invidiuals contributed to the success of our CampOUT!: Boys and Girl Club of Williams Lake, Williams Lake & District Credit Union, Safeway, West Fraser Truckers' Association, Red Tomato Pies, Husky, QTax, Changing Directions, Cariboo Regional District, Caribou Ski, Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre, Taylormade Cakes, PFLAG Canada, Amanda Todd Legacy Society, and YouthCO.
Our campers enjoyed activities such as snowshoeing, craftmaking, campfires, self-defence workshops, and morning yoga classes. We were lucky to have several guest presenters commit their time to CampOUT!, including presentations on the Medicine Wheel, Songwriting, and Healthy Relationships. We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all of our volunteers, cabin leaders, cooks, support workers, and presenters who gave their time to making this dream a reality!
Stay tuned for information on next year's event -- we can't wait to see everyone again!
